Ride for Kids 2010

 By Rhonda Friedenberg

I have to tell you that I was very worried about the weather for this ride.  Friday we had a nasty rainstorm ripping through Coral Springs.  Heavy rains and the temperature kept dropping and dropping.  Saturday morning I went to the site of the "Ride for Kids" only to find out that the tent that was assembled on Friday were practically lying on the floor.  It was a little cold, but the winds were blowing about 24 miles an hour.

I had to figure that the guy or girl above would not let the weather ruin our Sunday fundraiser's.  After all, the money raised is needed to help find the cause of brain tumors and to find the cure, until that happens we need to keep the cause going!

Brrrrr, 45 degrees at the bewitching hour of 5:30 am, luckily, there were no winds and as a motorcyclist, I have gloves to keep me warm.  The ride was warm and toasty on the way to the Sportsplex; oh did I forget to mention I was in our van because of all the goodies I was bringing?

As day light came upon us the sun came out and it started to warm up.  We had three pots of coffee brewing and bagels and donuts waiting for all the volunteers and participants.  The ride went off without a hitch, the ceremony was fantastic, lunch and ice cream rounded off the day.  The Starz on stage are so loving and because some have come year after year, they all feel like family to us and feel them same among themselves.

At the conclusion of the day we raised $67,000 and Star Cycles was the #1 dealer for the most donations credit to them by their customers $20,666.00.

We thank all the people that come to our shop and made us the #1 shop. Thank you for attending.
